AXOR’s unique collaboration with Barber Osgerby explored at Dubai Event
Some of the Middle East region’s leading interior designers, architects and bathroom specialists gathered to hear about the inspiration behind Barber Osgerby’s collaboration with AXOR, the premium luxury brand of German sanitaryware manufacturer, Hansgrohe Group, at an event where Edward Barber was the special guest.
The event, held at Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, offered the opportunity for guests to get up close and personal with the esteemed London-based designer who spoke about a range of considerations behind the creation of the AXOR One collection, first developed in 2015 and one of AXOR’s most popular and prominent product ranges. The event was moderated by interiors expert, Lena Marcuccilli, who was joined by Hansgrohe Group’s VP of Corporate Marketing, Olivier Sogno.
The conversation covered a realm of topics, including the importance of sustainability and water conservation in the design of bathroom products, the necessity for high quality craftmanship and manufacture in realising ultimate performance and how the AXOR One collection is exemplary in championing personalisation, a concept central to AXOR’s offering.
Barber Osgerby’s London-based industrial design studio was founded in 1996, the duo’s work encompassing interiors, furniture, lighting and product design as well as art and architectural-scale projects. Over the past 25 years they have collaborated with a wealth of prestigious brands including Vuitton, Hermes and Apple, with the AXOR collaboration marking their foray into bathroom products.
The AXOR One collection is highly distinctive, timeless in design and offers superior performance. Its creation was borne from the question posed to Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby at the beginning of their collaboration with AXOR: how can the user have perfect control of water? AXOR One showers are powered by advanced select technology, thereby facilitating effortless and ultra precise control, with all shower functions combined in one single element – a design that is both monolithic and minimal. Both the shower systems and faucets are available in Chrome, Matt Black and an array of exclusive AXOR FinishPlus surfaces, enabling a truly unique and individual look, suitable for either traditional or contemporary bathroom environments.
The latest addition to the AXOR One collection, which includes a range of unique colours, is a new palette of hues inspired by water, earth, and sky, including Ice, a muted blue seen in glaciers and sea ice, and Sand, a shade emulating the colour of the shore. A matt white finish in also part of the new range and is demonstrated in Barber Osgerby’s latest bathroom concept for AXOR, “Skyline”, which explores, in part, the notion of compact luxury and highlights how the simplicity of AXOR One ideally complements and lends functionality and aesthetics to more confined spaces.
Florian Tronel, Marketing Manager, Hansgrohe Middle East comments: “We were delighted to welcome Edward Barber, one of the world’s most renowned and original industrial designers to Dubai, and to share with our clients, partners, and colleagues Barber Osgerby’s inspiration, vision and thinking behind the creation and evolution of the AXOR One Collection. As well as highlighting new products and showcasing innovation, occasions like these allow us to gather valuable feedback from the industry, and it was really satisfying to see our guests participating so enthusiastically.”
