Doha Culture Pass Club, an inspiring invitation to dream big
Culture Pass Club (CP Club) is a members-only arts club based in the heart of Doha’s creative oasis and burgeoning design district, Msheireb Downtown. Founded in 2020 by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, in collaboration with Msheireb Properties and DW Northstar, with the sponsorship of the Qatar National Tourism Council (NTC), CP Club provides intimate, inspiring, and engaging atmospheres in which to relax, network and entertain.
The CP Club complex comprises a clubhouse with a café and members lounge plus 14 townhouses that have been expertly curated by leading international names in fashion and interior design, including Diane von Furstenberg, Armani/Casa, Minotti, Daniel Arsham, India Mahdavi, Marie-Anne Oudejans & Filipa de Abreu, Donna Karan/Urban Zen, Luxury Living, The Future Perfect and Rossana Orlandi, and by notable Qatari artists and designers Aisha Al-Sowaidi and Wadha. Here is a selection of some townhouses.
Townhouse 2 – Rossana Orlandi
The Queen of Milanese furniture design always creates a bespoke environment with her signature flare. A stunning mix of shape, colour, art, sculpture and installation, her townhouse will organically become an instant Instagram sensation. This playful space lends itself perfectly to a game night or mother and daughter/father and son weekend. Displays for playful jewelry and fashion are possible.
Townhouse 3 – Armani/Casa
Giorgio Armani presents his idea for living his dream of the perfect environment: an intimate and comfortable space to relax, unwind and entertain. Armani/Casa’s sophisticated style incorporates a harmonious combination of precious materials, high-end finishes, splendid textiles and immaculate details, coming together in a Qatar-only experience blending Middle Eastern flare with Italian minimalism. The Armani/Casa aesthetic philosophy focuses on simple lines and perfect proportions, enriched by precious materials, refined finishes, and elegant textiles. The distinctive style incorporates a harmonious combination of different inspirations and design codes to form a sophisticated atmosphere.
Townhouse 4 – India Mahdavi
The woman The New Yorker dubbed the “Virtuoso of Color” – who is also responsible for the most Instagrammed restaurant in London (Sketch) – has created a townhouse inspired by her travels through Iran. The fantastical custom de Gournay hand-painted mural depicting Persian fables adorns the walls of this lounge, also equipped with gorgeous furniture designed and arranged for casual conversation or impassioned discussion. The architect-designer’s signature use of eye-catching hues enlivens the space further. Designed by one of the most powerful women in interior design, this space would function perfectly for inspiring meeting spaces for women entrepreneurs and female art clubs. We envision an emphasis on women in executive positions in business and creative industries.
Townhouse 6 – Marie Anne Oudejans & Filipa de Abreu
Visitors will be completely floored by this dynamic design duo’s immersive townhouse, where Jaipurmeets Portugal in a bright, floor-to-ceiling, blue-and-white fantasy inspired by Azulejos tiles and handcrafted by Jaipur craftsmen with themes of travel and exploration. This immersive townhouse celebrates the real-life friendship of Maire-Anne Oudejans and Filipa de Abreu, who share a passion for their Dutch and Portuguese heritages, as well as Indian artisans. This space is perfect for luxury jewelry and watch showcasing, diplomatic lunches and dinners, or any extravagant culinary experience with close friends or other club members.
Townhouse 7 – Future Perfect
Famed New York contemporary design gallery, Future Perfect, takes kids-at-heart on a technicolour voyage to Columbia via their Townhouse 7 space in CP Club. Their space is a riot of colour that includes a several story gradient rainbow wall by Calico and whimsical woven and brightly hued aluminum furniture and sculpture by the humorous postmodern Brooklyn-based artist and designer Chris Wolston. This playful townhouse is perfect for a range of activities, varying from a staycation in aone-of-a-kind youthful experience, to fashion designer pop-ups or sports events interviews.
Townhouse 8 – Aisha Al-Sowaidi
Multidisciplinary artist and local designer Aisha Al-Sowaidi, uses her work to contemplate her own childhood reflected against an ever-evolving Qatar. In Msheireb, she has fashioned a townhouse into a version of her childhood home using scent, furniture design, and custom sculpture. This makes it perfect for mother and daughter weekends and bonding activities or female gatherings of press and executive teams. Even a female art circle or book club around a setting of afternoon tea would be particularly fitting. Her work incorporates old experiences and behaviours with contemporary design in objects used within the house to maintain the feeling of being home. Her work also brings the modern city closer to the home using materials inspired by the city.
Townhouse 9 – Diane von Furstenberg
Iconic celebrity designer Diane von Furstenberg has brought to CP Club her signature jet set style with a twist: she has created a luxe bohemian house designed for and by women using local students and artisans to craft her furniture, textiles, and other decor. It is expected to be the premiere spot to view local Qatari talent showcased in the context of a global super-brand. As an extremely powerful woman, this space is designed to be a space of empowerment for its members, gathering for meetings, creative dialogues, or even baby showers.
Townhouse 12 – Daniel Arsham
Experimental artist and designer Daniel Arsham is famous for his smart and provocative exhibitions and buzzy collaborations with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Dior and Rimowa. In CP Club, he fills Townhouse 12 with his highly anticipated new line of furniture debuting exclusively in Doha. This townhouse is perfect for living in a piece of art: giving o‑ the feeling of being transported into a different temporal world. Daniel Arsham’s aesthetics revolve around his concept of fictional archaeology. Working in sculpture, architecture, drawing, and film, he creates and crystallizes ambiguous in-between spaces of situations, and further stages what he refers to as future relics of the present.
Townhouse 14 – Urban Zen
East meets West in the Middle East when famed designer Donna Karan creates an artisanal house exclusive to Doha with handmade products from her travels around the world, each with a charitable or sustainable component. This house embodies the same ethos of the iconic New York City store and the designer herself: the mind, body, and soul working together in harmony. The space serves as a setting for workshops with experts in fields including lead mindfulness/breath-work workshop (Lauren Ash) and sound bath meditations (David and Elian Zach-Shemesh of Woom Center). Wellness, travel, and culinary oriented businesses will find particular satisfaction in this space.
