A building in harmony with its surroundings

A professional interior designer with over 10 years’ experience, Julia Andrievskaya has created a country house near the Petrovskoye reservoir in the Moscow region. Designed for a young couple with two young children, this residential project fuses Italian and Spanish Mediterranean styles with classic and modern interior touches.

Far from the hustle and bustle of Moscow city life lies a home teeming with stories of ambition and passion. Designed by interior architect Julia Andrievskaya for a young family living along the Petrovskoye reservoir, this 500 m² home adopts unconventional concepts, simple yet subtle, where stories are explicitly expressed. The customers already had in mind the interior of their future home: off-white walls, an emerald-colored sofa, bricks for the fireplace, a wrought staircase and Provençal-inspired furniture. However, their preferences evolved as they met with the designer, and the final project took a different direction after a year and a half, with the couple finally opting for a Mediterranean style, embellished with modern furniture and vintage objects. The main idea was to create a living space in harmony with nature, offering a serene retreat from urban chaos. The color palette revolves around natural tones, with a predominance of white, giving an impression of volume and lightness. Unique design elements include an arched staircase and rooms with rounded walls, giving rise to a singular shell-shaped layout. The interior relies on peaceful textures, monochrome hues and a mix of styles, such as raw plaster mixed with contemporary furniture. Remarkable technological solutions include custom-designed furniture, decorative elements handcrafted by local artisans and the incorporation of authentic materials throughout the residence. The most striking success remains the arched staircase, which initially aroused reluctance before being embraced by customers, and subsequently becoming a focal point, adorned with handmade sconces and contributing to the overall aesthetic. Julia Andrievskaya is clearly not afraid to challenge preconceptions and break design norms in the name of creativity. For her, this home is a testament to her perseverance in going beyond the rules and exploring the limitless possibilities of interior design.
