Casa Cook Samos, a modern and elegant design

In the forested landscape of the island of Samos, facing the endless beaches of the northeastern Aegean Sea, lies the latest hotel in the Casa Cook collection, the brainchild of Athens-based architecture and design firm Block722. This retreat offers Casa Cook’s signature relaxed luxury in one of the Mediterranean’s most historically rich environments.

The complex, comprising 128 rooms, a restaurant and wellness center, as well as a multitude of outdoor spaces, is located on the southern side of the island of Samos. The site, set on a deep seafront plot, blends rich plantings and freshwater features, stretching out to an idyllic sandy beach. Influenced by the traditional Greek houses, or Kamares, found in Samia’s villages, the architecture, the work of Block722, is down-to-earth and inclusive. This influence helps to define the project’s identity, which is expressed in groups of low, gently stripped volumes, composed of individual bungalows and rooms of various sizes. A strong water element – a series of ponds, small canals and pools – runs through the boutique-hotel, between the buildings, uniting the various verdant outdoor spaces and providing an omnipresent cooling factor and unifying canvas for Casa Cook. Earthy textures and colors are inspired by the local land and its organic elements: abundant greenery echoes the fertile vegetation with palm trees, pines, agaves and wild olive trees. The terracotta hues of Greek ceramics play a key role in the choice of colors, while Italian cotto tiles, stone, wood, terrazzo, butter-soft leather and ethereal fabrics form the layers of the composition. Handcrafted pieces and carefully selected contemporary furniture populate the rooms, transforming them into havens of calm. This cocooning environment re-energizes guests, whether they choose to spend their time in the private quarters or take advantage of the array of spa, hammam, exercise and beauty offerings. Defining the edge of the hotel towards the sea, the Beach House restaurant enjoys panoramic views of blue waters and the infinite horizon ahead. An open-air gym and yoga room provide a spacious setting for expending energy, while the wellness center, with its spa suites, hammam massages and nail salon, is the ideal place to recharge your batteries.
