Designed to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this 150 m2 residence, located in Tonden in the municipality of Brummen, The Netherlands, is the ideal retreat for vacationers. HofmanDujardin has carefully shaped its characteristic appearance to perfectly match its natural surroundings in a pine forest.
This wood-clad home in Tonden, The Netherlands, is equipped with all the amenities needed to enjoy a relaxed time with family and friends. Designed by the HofmanDujardin agency, it is made up of three masses in the shape of an archetypal house. The facades embrace different terraces overlooking the surrounding fields and woods. While the individual volumes translate into unique interior spaces with specific qualities, the use of sliding doors strengthens the internal connections. The entrance hall is openly connected to the main living area. With openings oriented in three directions, the living room follows the sun. Two large sliding glass doors open onto a terrace and blur the lines between indoors and outdoors. With the structure of the wooden roof left visible, its height is highlighted. The living room forms the heart of the house, inviting the family to spend warm and comfortable evenings around the fireplace. The master bedroom has a private bathroom and a bay window offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding woods. The children’s room has four built-in bunk beds, located in front of a large window overlooking the forest and allowing children to see birds and deer. In addition to these two bedrooms on the ground floor, the building has two additional guest rooms in the attic, with a skylight for gazing at the stars and the treetops. In this way, each space has a unique relationship with the surrounding nature.
