Perched on a verdant slope in the Benguela Cove wine estate in the Western Cape, overlooking the Botrivier Lagoon and surrounded by the Overberg Mountains, this family-friendly vacation home is built to be anchored in its spectacular natural surroundings, while still remaining within sheltered from the South African climate. Deployed over 4,533 m2, the villa is designed by the architectural firm SAOTA, while the interior is signed by ARRCC. Cubic in appearance, built in the shape of a C, lengthwise, the residence, on a single floor, plays the card of transparency and openness and, indirectly, of light, thus leaving in the breathtaking natural setting, in which it is located, all the freedom of expression. Responding to the owner who wanted a comfortable retreat for his family, the designers, in effect, drew three wings, assembled one above the other, following the sloping land and heading towards the lagoon. Inspired by the barns and sheds typical of the region, the structure, whose envelope alternates between wood, glass and concrete facings, encloses a minimalist and discreet interior, which extends outside with spacious and protected terraces, allowing masters of the place to enjoy the breathtaking panorama.
