A captivating and elegant property in Cape Town
The concept of luxury living in contemporary architecture is redefined by the meticulous design and execution of this ARRCC residence. Located in the heart of Cape Town’s Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, this masterpiece embodies the harmonious fusion of modern aesthetics with the natural beauty of South Africa’s wine region.
Nestled in the Val de Vie estate in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley in Cape Town, South Africa, and built by ARRCC, this luxurious villa is a contemporary interpretation of a Provençal vernacular design model. Its guidelines include pitched roofs, exposed wooden rafters, in addition to a material palette of wood cladding, shuttered concrete and natural stone offset by white plaster walls. The innovative H-shaped footprint, transformed into a cruciform arrangement, demonstrates a masterful approach to creating a living space that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally superior. This geometric configuration allows panoramic views in all directions. Sheltered terraces on either side of the central living area ensure that residents are sheltered from prevailing winds at all times. In addition, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors are built into the walls to create a series of green pockets and courtyards around the house, so that it appears stitched into the landscape. In this way, the sloping ceiling represents a dynamic, asymmetrical detail. Respecting the guidelines of the estate, the residence meets the lifestyle requirements of its owners, without hindering a rich and unique architectural directive.
