Modern charm blended with cultural richness

Combining the clean lines and simplicity of Scandinavian tradition with the rich and intricate detailing of Arabian style, this home in Al Warqa, Dubai, designed by Bani Singh and Abdhul Hazeeb of Grounded Design, exudes minimalist sophistication while exuding a welcoming ambience. The client wanted a home that was personal, intimate and distinctly different from conventional contemporary design. The residence embodies this vision, offering a seamless integration of global influences while remaining true to the family’s specific lifestyle needs.
Located in Al Warqa, Dubai, this resplendent villa underwent structural modifications by Grounded Design to open up the space, increase natural light and improve circulation between rooms. The 18-month construction process called for meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a seamless fusion of form and function, and perfect harmony between architecture and interior design. Natural light plays a predominant role in this open and airy residence. A carefully selected palette of materials – stone, wood and metal – is unified by soft, neutral tones, creating a sense of continuity throughout the space. Bespoke furniture and textured accents add depth to the ensemble without weighing it down. Clean geometric shapes dominate with minimal embellishment, letting the quality of the materials take center stage. The Pion Petra dining table reconciles modern aesthetics with functional elegance, while the Mogg concrete monolith coffee table serves as a focal point in the living room. With its limited-edition Ananbo wallpaper and crystal pendants, the majlis ensures a luxurious yet inviting space for family gatherings. Large windows optimize daylight, generating a serene environment that seems connected to nature. A rectangular swimming pool forms the architectural heart of the house, a double-height atrium accentuates the sense of grandeur and a second staircase in the living room adds a definite asset. The entertainment-oriented basement, featuring an eight-metre-high double swing, introduces a playful element and a whimsical touch to the overall design. One of the key challenges was to strike the right balance between maintaining a strong minimalism and incorporating sufficient texture and depth to the space. To achieve this, natural materials such as stone and wood were chosen. Tailor-made furnishings and decorations give this uncluttered style an impression of richness and diversity.
