An open villa, well integrated into its site in Vienna
In Hietzing, Vienna’s 13th district and one of its affluent, with over 70% green space, stands a superb residence created by the interdisciplinary firm Najjar Najjar Architects, based in Vienna and Beirut. It was therefore just necessary to integrate the building into its environment, focusing on nature and the surrounding landscapes.
Located in a green suburb of Vienna, gently nestled in the foothills of the Wienerwald, this magnificent villa is the work of the architectural office Najjar Najjar Architects. The project is then guided by a master rule: harmoniously integrating the building into the lush landscape, optimizing the involvement of residents in the natural splendor of the surroundings and the idyllic views. As for the internal design, the arrangement of the various parts of the residence is carried out in such a way as to create a sequence of immense interconnected zones and thus avoid any clutter which could disrupt their opening onto one another. Which gives residents this beautiful feeling of living in a vast panorama. This same concept applies to the design of outdoor spaces. It integrates into the interior structure, and transparently, the generously sized terrace and the swimming pool oriented perpendicular to the axis of the building. A coherence that generates a fluid inside-outside transition allowing the beauty and tranquility of the outdoors to be fully enjoyed, while maintaining a connection with the interior of the house. A curved, shell-shaped cantilevered roof covers the upper level as well as the garden level, offering stunning views of the city. Equipped with solar panels, it is cleverly designed to maximize solar gains. The building is also powered by a geothermal system including a heat pump installation and benefits from passive cooling as well as earthen conduits for sustainable climate control.
